Sattasaī 43, Meghadūta 11

(Meghadūta 11)
तां चावश्यं दिवसगणनातत्परामेकपत्नी-
मव्यापन्नामविहतगतिर्द्रक्ष्यसि भ्रातृजायाम् ।
आशाबन्धः कुसुमसदृशं प्रायशो ह्यङ्गनानां
सद्यःपातप्रणयि हृदयं विप्रयोगे रुणद्धि ॥

(Sattasaī 43)
विरहाणलो सहिज्जइ आसावंधेण वल्लहजणस्स ।
एक्कग्गामपवासो हु माए मरणं विसेसेइ ॥



If you go quickly, brother, you will certainly find her, absorbed in counting the days gone by, but still alive. For a woman’s heart is tender like a flower: ever on the verge of falling apart, the bond of hope sustains it in absence.

The bond of hope will get you through the fire of separation.—Separation? He hasn’t left town, and I feel like dying.
