अहिणवराआरद्धा चुक्क-क्खलिएसु विहडिअ-परिट्ठविआ ।
मेत्ति व्व पमुह-रसिआ णिव्वोढुं होइ दुक्करं कव्वकहा ॥



This verse has a śleṣa that turns on the word rāa, according to the commentator Rāmadāsa. (Meter: skandhaka.)

Writing a poem is like a friendship:

it was started by a young king,
and when his careless slips started to ruin it,
it needed revision.
Carrying it through,
making sure it has the right rasas,
is hard.

it begins with feelings that are new,
and when it starts to fall apart from careless mistakes,
it needs to be patched up.
Keeping it up
in the same spirit that it began in
is hard.

Chāyā
अभिनव-राजा(गा)रब्धा च्युतस्खलितेषु विघटित-परिस्थापिता ।
मैत्रीव प्रमुख-रसिका निर्वोढुं भवति दुष्करं काव्यकथा ॥
