Subhāṣitaratnakoṣa 1472 (42.12)

जनस्थाने भ्रान्तं कनकमृगतृष्णान्वितधिया
वचो वैदेहीति प्रतिदिशमुदश्रु प्रलपितम् ।
कृतालङ्काभर्तुर्वदनपरिपाटीषु घटना
मयाप्तं रामत्वं कुशलवसुता न त्वधिगता ।। (अभिनन्दस्य)

śikhariṇī

We've wandered in Janasthāna,
:: among crowds of people,
chased after the golden deer,
:: in search of the mirage of wealth,
cried out for Vaidehi everywhere,
:: babbled a tearful "Please give!"
fired arrows at the King of Laṅkā's heads.
:: stared into the ugly mugs of mean bosses.

So we're not so different, Rāma and I;
but he has two sons, Kuśa and Lava,
and I haven't got a penny to my name.
