Saduktikarṇāmṛta 971

दुःखानि तिष्ठत चिरं मम चित्तभूमौ
युष्माकमेव वसतिर्विधिना कृतेयम् ।
यद्दैवदुर्विलसितक्रकचप्रहारै-
श्छिन्नोऽपि न त्रुटति जीवनतत्वबन्धः ।। (कस्यापि)

Sorrow--
stay a while in my heart;
the creator has made a home here
    just for you.
For though sliced by the sharp cuts
of each flashy stroke of fate,
the cord that binds me to life
    just won't snap.
