Uttararāmacarita 2.26

चिराद् वेगारम्भी प्रसृत इव तीव्रो विषरसः
कुतश्चित् संवेगाच्चलित इव शल्यस्य शकलः ।
व्रणो रूढग्रन्थिः स्फुटित इव हृन्मर्मणि पुनर्
पुराभूतः शोको विकलयति मां नूतन इव ।।

like a slow-working poison that spreads
with sharp and sudden force,
or an arrowhead lodged deep
jostled by some shock,
like a festering, bulging wound
that bursts in the heart,
the sorrows of the past torment me
all over again.
